I know this because a few months ago I ran a small investment bank that was in the business of buying and selling stocks. In the first few months of that business, I started buying in and selling out of the same stocks, just like I would with any other investment. This was because there were a lot of stocks that were going crazy.
The most important thing to remember about the JMBs is that they are a bunch of old money brokers who’ve made their money over the last twenty years. They’re not in it for the money. They’re in it for the commissions. And that’s where you come in.
In other words, if you want to make money with stocks, you need to be in the business. Some trades you can do with a brokerage, but the majority of trades you need to do yourself. As it turns out, the JMBs have been getting rich off of investing in this way, just like the rest of us have been doing with stocks.
So, if you really want to make money with stocks, you need to be in the business of making money off of stocks. It’s a lot easier to do this the other way around. The JMBs have been making a lot of money for themselves off of trading stocks. Instead of building up a sizable portfolio of stocks, they’re just buying stocks and selling them off.
Some of your people may have a vested interest in buying shares in this company, but the company has never invested in it. For example, if you bought a few shares of a company with shares that were worth $30,000, it would have been invested in that company with shares that were worth $20,000. It would have been invested in the company with shares that were worth $100,000. This is just one of many ways in which these companies have gone bust.
Stock market analysts have been telling you this since the beginning of time. They haven’t done this to you. They’re just making sure you’re not paying attention.
Most investors, and most financial analysts, have a particular bias that they take into account when making investment decisions. One of these biases is risk preference. The more risky a company is, the more likely they are to go bust. So risk preference is a good indicator of whether a company is worth buying or not. But risk preference is also a function of whether the company can pay its debts, or not.
