That’s not to say that we can’t get lost in the self-awareness stuff though. We have to be careful, though. It’s important to remember that these levels of self-awareness are based on beliefs. We don’t have to believe that we’re the hero, and that’s okay. We can choose not to believe that, though.
We all have our own beliefs. Our beliefs are beliefs, and they have to be backed up by evidence. We need to be able to distinguish the belief in itself of the belief against the evidence. In this case, it seems that the belief in being on Deathloop’s island is enough evidence to convince us that we are indeed on Deathloop’s island.
The game’s developer, Arkane, didn’t seem to mind that much so long as we agreed with them. It seems like the game’s developers are willing to accept a certain amount of belief-based self-awareness. This is actually not a bad thing. We don’t have to believe that the hero in the game is even in the game at all.
It was refreshing to see a game developer take a relatively mainstream belief about ourselves, and put it to use for a game. At the end of the day, it seems like they did what they could to make the game a little less dark and a little more fun.
There are some games that just want to challenge our abilities. This is not one of them. Deathloop wants us to play it on our own. We dont have to believe it’s real, we dont have to believe it’s a video game, we dont have to believe it has guns and superpowers. It has to be fun.
A video game has a lot of interesting ideas, but to be honest, it’s not very good for it.
Deathloop’s developers are more interested in bringing us into the game than in letting us win. If you’re not up for competing for the most powerful gun, you’re probably not going to like Deathloop. I guess it’s a game that’s better for playing with friends than against them.
Deathloop is a game that is about more than shooting people. Although I am sure that at times, Deathloop is about shooting people, its also about making you laugh. We get to witness a young man whose life has been turned upside down because he got drunk and accidentally shot his boss. But the most fun part of Deathloop is that it is a game of sorts where you have to make yourself laugh.
It also makes you think about death. Like the game’s creators (a group of Japanese developers who worked at SEGA and Nintendo) have said, it made them realize that “death is not a thing that can be controlled and is not something that can be avoided.” I guess that makes sense.
